The Havanese is an easy breed to care for; however, they do require bathing and brushing.
I like to use a pin brush, a slicker brush, and a small comb. We also trim their nails every couple of weeks. Brush them out every couple of days from the skin to the tips of the hair.
Also, make sure you do their feet and legs right from the start, so they will be used to it.
You can wash your puppy as often as every week or a couple of times a month, depending on how your puppy spends time outside. Make sure you use a dog or puppy shampoo. I like shampoo that does not sting their eyes.
When you take your puppy home, you will need Nutri-cal Puppy to keep the blood sugar up while they adjust to their new home. It is a high-calorie paste that comes in a tube.
As the puppy gets older, Alaskan salmon oil is good for their health and skin.
